Stamford - Leroy “Lee” Terrell, 87, of Stamford, CT was at Stamford Hospital when he was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. He was the loving and devoted husband of Ruby Terrell for 65 years. Lee was born October 12, 1932 in Prescott, Arkansas, to Luvelia Madkin Terrell and Mayfield Terrell, Sr. He grew up in North Little Rock, where he attended Jones High School and graduated in 1949. He furthered his education and graduated in 1956 from Arkansas AM&N College, now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with a degree in Business Administration. It was in college Lee met his lovely wife. They married in 1955 and have four children, Eric, Gail, Christopher, and Scott. He served his country honorably, joining the U.S. Army in 1951 and was assigned to the 373rd Armored Infantry Battalion in Germany. He received an honorable discharge in 1953 and returned to Arkansas where he enrolled in college. Upon graduation he was quickly hired at International Business Machines (IBM) where he worked for over three decades, before getting involved in Social Services and Non-Profit organizations. Lee was a dedicated IBM’er who started his career in 1956 in Seattle, Washington. Having worked in various Sales, Marketing, Administration, and Human Resources management and leadership roles with IBM he relocated from Seattle to California, and then settled in Connecticut in 1974. He retired from IBM in 1992. Lee was passionate about his community service and civic responsibilities. He worked as Director of HR for Northside Center for Child Development in New York, and CTE Inc, in Stamford. Lee also volunteered his time to many organizations including the National Urban League Black Executive Exchange Program, the U.S. Department of Labor Youth Motivation Task Force, the Urban League of Southwestern Connecticut, 100 Black Men, Stamford Fair Housing Commission, and was the Chair for the Personnel Commission for the City of Stamford for 3 years. He also served on various Boards including Shelter for the Homeless-Pacific House in Stamford, and the Yerwood Center in Stamford. Lee enjoyed and lived life to the fullest. He and his wife, Ruby, enjoyed travelling around the world and made wonderful memories together. He was a long-time University of Arkansas Razorback fan. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. He was also a Guardsmen in the Connecticut chapter. He made lasting friendships through his different affiliations. He loved playing poker and tennis. In addition, Lee enjoyed gardening and was also an avid cook. He frequently experimented with new recipes and looked forward to grilling on his char-coal Weber grill. He cherished time with family and friends and hosted many barbecues, dinners and holiday celebrations. Friends could stop by any time and receive a warm welcome, some good food, and a cold drink. In his spare time he could always be found watching golf and tennis matches. He is survived by his loving family including devoted wife Ruby, children Eric Terrell of Dallas, TX, Gail (Loren) Terrell-Green of Chester, NY, Christopher (Anjani) Terrell of Stratford, CT, Scott (Simone) Terrell of Beacon Falls, CT, grandchildren, Tegh, Camille, Carter and Rohan. In addition he leaves behind his sister Juanita Rose, nephews, and nieces. He was preceded by his brothers Mayfield Jr. and Billy Terrell. Lee will be sorely missed but will live forever in our hearts. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Thomas Gallagher Funeral Home in Stamford, CT. There is a wake scheduled for Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. ET, at Thomas Gallagher Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford, CT 06902 (203)-359-9999. Private funeral services to take place on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. ET, also at Thomas Gallagher Funeral Home. Interment to follow immediately after the funeral service. In lieu of flowers a Memorial donation may be made to Pacific House, 137 Henry Street, Suite 205, Stamford, CT 06902, pacifichouse.org. Due to current COVID-19 circumstances, and for the safety of those the family cares so much about, a Celebration of Life for Lee will be scheduled at a later date. My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MY TRIBUTE GIFT FOUNDATION OR ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND AGENTS (THE "FOUNDATION PARTIES") BE LIABLE FOR ANY: (i) INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, COMPENSATORY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; (ii) DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF INCOME, LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF DATA OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY; (iii) CLAIMS OF THIRD PARTIES; OR (iv) OTHER PECUNIARY LOSS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OF USE, THE WEBSITE OR ANY LINKED SITE. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
